“Boy Charlton” Swimming Pool Sydney

Responsible for completing the scheme design, budget estimates, detail design, site inspection and sign off for Arup on this amazing site for a swimming pool with world class views surrounded by the Royal Botanical Gardens. The project consisted of the complete demolition of an existing out dated swimming pool and construction of a new Olympic pool suspended above Sydney Harbour complete with children’s pool, toddler’s pool, sundecks, landscaping over underground plant rooms, fire, hot & cold water, sanitary plumbing, sewer both at ground and high level, storm water, roof drainage, natural gas, swimming pool makeup and pumped drainage, trade waste, major sewer pumping wells and rising main and fire protection.

This prominent showcase project with the use of clear safety glass and stainless steel to capture the views and bring a feeling of sharing a presence with the surrounding environment, consisted of new modern shower rooms, lockers and amenities as well as lifeguard and equipment room and landing wharf. A harbour view licensed restaurant was installed at street level with grease waste disposal. Modifications to the sewer pumping station at sea level with rising main, and 600mm storm water diversions lines with silt and litter arrestors before any discharge enters Sydney Harbour. This was a high profile and successful project in a sensitive area culminating in excellent ongoing Architect relationship and client relationship.
